John J. Corbett started the company in 1951 after twenty years of service with Consolidated Edison Company. The quality of service and customer demand forced the expansion of the business by word of mouth among companies. Jim Corbett worked part-time during the summers and joined the company full-time in 1960. Continued growth and a growing customer base forced another expansion of the company by bringing in Dick Geier as a shareholder in 1966.

The next major step in the company came in 1968 when we started manufacturing industrial combustion systems to supplement the service base. Bill Carman joined the company in 1970 and later became a shareholder in 1973. Due to our expertise, reputation, and experience, a major burner and control manufacturer began to recommend our services to their clients. In 1973, Jim Corbett took over their administration of the company and started a positive marketing sales effort. In 1975, we decided to expand our operating base and in 1976, took over Hudson Gas Appliances, Inc., giving us our own manufacturing capabilities.

In 1977, we changed our overall name to Corbett Industries, Inc. in order to provide a unified name. In 1980, we consolidated operations in a larger, more efficient and more modern facility in Waldwick, New Jersey.

In 1992, Diane Procino joined the company. Later in 1994, she became a shareholder, adding her financial expertise to the management.
